Trunk Show: Now Only 1 Week Away!
Friday, October 30th, 2009More from Montreal Fashion Week S/S 2010
Thursday, October 29th, 2009Soia & Kyo showcased adorable spring jackets at Montreal Fashion Week this past month. They are casual yet classy still with a retro-feminine vibe. Super cute, fun, and flirty; I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

Clockwise from top, these images show the models at S&K S/S 2010 with the designer, two models backstage, and the empty chairs set up before the madness.
Video: Soia & Kyo Fall 2009
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009Yesterday somebody from Australia (who is here on an exchange) asked me what kind of winter coat to get in order to survive a Canadian winter. I was tempted to blurt out “SOIA & KYO OF COURSE!” As if you didn’t know already, Soia & Kyo’s winter coats are beee-uuu-tee-ful. They should be considering how much time I spend talking about them (feel free to make fun of me).

Well I’m going to talk about them even more and let you know that over at Fashiontelevison.com you can watch Soia & Kyo’s entire fall 2009 fashion show (seen in the above picture) from start to finish uninterupted!! Click here to watch the video. It’s like sitting in the front row. ♥

Spotted: Leather Jackets @ Soia & Kyo S/S 2010
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Everybody loves leather jackets. They are comfortable, timeless, and they can be worn with anything. This trend shows no signs of slowing down, as they were featured prominantly in Soia & Kyo’s S/S 2010 show at Montreal Fashion Week. I’m loving these fitted biker jackets and grey leather crops that were accented with preppy skirts and runners.

This winter I’ve got my eye on that gorgeous pink one, because, when you really think about it, you can never go wrong with hot pink.

Can Shopaholics Shop Smart?
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009I just got back to Kingston after visiting home over Thanksgiving weekend, and once again I spent way too much money over the weekend on clothes that I don’t really need. Recently “smart consumption” has become a bit of a catchphrase, and one that I need to pay more attention to. It’s a trend towards pocketbook-friendly, more intelligent shopping. Everything from design to price is now being discussed all over the web, and as a result shoppers know exactly what they are looking for.
Today it’s possible to find quality products that will last you long-term at a good price. Smart shopping is more about a long-term perspective than finding bargains. Ask yourself if you will wear that new outfit you just have to have after washing it twice. Focus on buying basics that will last you a lifetime, and use your leftover money on more trendy pieces. And remember what I often forget: that student loan money is for tuition, not shoes.
I’m only now learning to be a smart shopper, and this past weekend is the perfect example as to why I’m not very good at it yet. But smart shopping doesn’t mean that you have to stop loving clothes, or stop shopping. You just have to focus on quality fashion at a good price. I think I can handle it.
