Shades of Grey

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Bland? Boring? Not even close. One of fall’s “it” colours (but still appropriate for summer), grey can be beautiful in its simplicity. Brighten it up with bold jewelry, or just wear it as is. I love the idea of showing off the girl as opposed to the dress. Sometimes you don’t need anything more than that.

Summer Pastels

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

The sun is shining, and summer is too short to let all these pretty colours pass us by. Gone are the days of dreary shades, now is the time to spice up my wardrobe with a cheerful colour palette. The shades of light pink, crisp blue, and soft beiges put me in the perfect summertime mood. I love light coloured peach-pink tops with a pair of shorts and simple necklace. It’s a great way to beat the heat.

Tough Girl Chic

images from Rock & Republic

Add a bit of edge to your style with a few tough girl pieces. They require quite a bit of courage, but it’s fun to take your style to the darker side. To test out this look, try studs (on the shoulders, collar, or even jewelry); lots of black, silver and gold; tough, strappy sandals; and/or skinny jeans or jeggings. If you’re not ready to go all out, mix the soft and the hard to create a look that mixes these two elements.

World Cup Style

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

photo from Lipsy

It’s hard to believe that the World Cup is now only days away. The worldwide obsession with the beautiful game has spilled over into other beautiful things too – namely fashion. We’re seeing lots of sporty styles this summer such as shorts, cropped track pants, and of course lots and lots of tank tops. Channel your inner footballers wife with a pair of heels or go for downtown cool in runners instead.

Sex and the City 2 Style

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

If you’re trying to think of something to wear to the upcoming Sex and the City 2 premiere event, here are some ideas from the stylish stars themselves! Always willing to take a fashion risk, the girls fashion-forward choices are colorful, daring, and always chic.

I love Miranda’s slouchy dress with a belt to give it shape. And the SHOES!! Strappy & sexy.

Everyone knows that you can never go wrong with black. Samantha is working the body con look here. Love!

Charlotte works the color blocking trend with a matching bag & shoes!

& of course Carrie’s dress here is now famous, going with a vintage style in all white with standout sunglasses.

Farm Girl Chic

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Inspired by the likes of Chanel, I absolutely love the “farm girl” look for spring! It’s all about feeling cool and comfortable but also girlie at the same time. The once-upon-a-time “traditional” plaid pattern is a major trend this season. Like these examples above by Lady Dutch, you can wear a boldly colored shirt or go for something more calming like lighter colors to keep you cool in the hot sun. You don’t need to be picking strawberries to look this cute! Now all I need is a straw hat…

Spring Fashion in Full Bloom

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

The (slightly) warmer weather lately has made me all excited for summer-y dresses! I’m really loving floral patterns right now. Floral is a popular trend this spring, especially when it comes to dresses. But this look doesn’t mean that you have to be headed to a garden party. I love wearing them with tough girl sandals or leather jackets. Above are two beautiful floral dresses from Mink Pink (left) and Lipsy (right). Super cute!

Grammy [Fashion] Hits

Monday, February 1st, 2010

The Grammy Awards took place last night, and as always they featured a lot of amazing and not-so-amazing fashion choices. These are my 2 favourites. Lea Michele in this gorgeous one-shoulder navy blue dress, and Grammy winner Taylor Swift, just as sparkly as the award she accepted.

New Years Party Fashion

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

New Years Eve is fast approaching and as everybody is trying to figure out their last minute plans, I’m already deciding what to wear. I love dressing up for New Years Eve because it’s all about having fun and reflecting that in your outfit. Here are a few New Years fashion ideas I’ve been thinking about.

Personalized Little Black Dress
The classic New Years Eve dress is simple in its most basic form, but the best part is bringing out your individuality and dressing it up. Bedazzling shoes, scarves, necklaces, wraps and handbags! All of this makes me want to go on an accessories shopping blitz!

Costume Jewelry
No need to buy the real stuff, costume jewelry is great for more than just playing dress up. Rhinestone barrettes for my hair or ropes of pearls make me feel like a princess.

Daring Makeup
If there’s one good thing about winter, it’s the dramatic colours. Everybody always wears such light makeup in the spring. But at this time of the year, I say bring on the dark lipstick and smoky eyes! New Years Eve is the best time to experiment with a new look!

We Heart Soia & Kyo!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I’m a big fan of coats by Soia & Kyo, in case you didn’t already know that by now. They’re stylish and colourful, but also very warm! Here are a few examples of Soia & Kyo coats available at Agent 99 right now!! This winter I’ve got my eye on that gorgeous pink one, because, when you really think about it, you can never go wrong with hot pink.

Special shoutout to Agent 99 staffer Ally for modeling the coats! She looks awesome.
